EMU ON NEST WITH CHICKS
Dromaius novaehollandiae (E034, E035, E036) - This is one of our favorite pieces, partially because it tells a story. An adult male emu skeleton sits in brooding position atop 8 eggs. 2 of these eggs have hatched to reveal 2 emu chick skeletons. This is a great representation of emu parenthood, and also illustrates just how much the baby emus must grow to attain adulthood.
The bones of the adult emu are wired and pinned together to keep it stable. The chick skeletons are glued and supported with additional metal pins. The skeletons are attached by metal supports to a stained oak base with wheels (60"x28"x48"). There is also a display stand (brings the piece to eye level) that doubles as a cargo container! There is space for a plexiglass case to be installed over the wood base (not included). The piece is perfect for an educational institution, however it also is capable of moving from one place to another (and keeps the delicate skeletons very safe). I can vouch that it is a magnet for children and adults alike. This piece includes an informational plaque with information regarding individual emus, the scientific name, and a list of bone pathologies.
